The youth archery class is a great way for kids to learn a new skill that’s also fun! Your child can learn these skills to learn to hunt, compete in competitions or simply have a fun and rewarding new hobby. Kids can start taking our youth archery class starting at 8 years old and up. Archery skills will help teach your child concentration, patience, and the rewards of practice. Our Youth Archery Program is designed around the J.O.A.D. national archery program (Junior Olympic Archery Development). Our instructors have experience in competition archery shooting as well as hunting, allowing students to get tips and pointers directed at what part of the archery world they would like to be a part of. Kids are welcome to shoot either a compound bow or a recurve bow depending on their preferences. We do recommend each child have their own equipment, as bows are tuned to the specific shooter using them, however we do have rental bows and arrows for your child to use that are included in the price of the class. The class is structured into rounds of three shots, with three rounds for warm-ups and ten rounds of instruction. Between these rounds your child will get instruction on what they can do to improve their shooting.
The Youth Archery Class is approximately an hour per session and is offered at two different class times on Sunday morning. This helps us accommodate everyone’s needs and keeps class sizes small to ensure your child is getting the attention to their instruction they deserve. Students will be instructed on how to maintain proper stance, form, and anchor points as well as proper aiming techniques. Along with the basics of archery, students will also receive instruction that is geared towards the style of bow they shoot whether it is traditional bow or compound bow.
There is no long-term commitment to the Youth Archery Class as students can sign up on a weekly basis and come to class when time allows.
