The classes you take to acquire your CPL or Concealed Pistol License are designed to teach you how to carry your pistol and defend yourself from a legal standpoint and ensure you have the bare minimum of accuracy skills to operate safely. The CPL class however is not designed to make you ready to effectively operate your firearm in a self-defense situation. Carry Preparedness is the first of two great classes we offer to train you to be a proficient and effective shooter centered around day to day concealed carry. When you’re carrying, if you ever are involved in a situation, you need your firearm, make sure you’re starting off with the upper hand of having been trained beyond the CPL classroom.
Start off with a focus on drawing your firearm from your holster. We’ll teach you different positions you can holster from and how to make your draw a smooth fluid motion to come up to your targets. This provides you the chance to test how effective your draw is from the current position you carry from and give you insight on different positions you can holster in depending on your situation.
The second skill that is essential to train on is moving and shooting. There is a good chance if you must defend yourself, you wont be doing it standing still. This class will teach you how to move and shoot with your carry gun so you can effectively put rounds on target when you’re not at a standstill. Combine this with drawing and firing your gun and you’re on the first path to carrying your firearm with the confidence you are ready to face a defensive situation if the time ever comes. Carry preparedness is also a great time for you to ask questions and get acquainted with different types of holsters, positions to carry in and different types of holsters that retain the firearm in multiple different ways.
